Do you have a sense that the tides are changing? Republicans can’t turn off the sound of their dissenting constituents. Energized, instinctive protests are spreading across the country. Courts are fighting back. Tesla stock has plummeted 37% since Inauguration Day. The pressure is mounting—more every day. In whatever ways you can—for the causes and people you hold dear—please be a part of this movement.

We are making progress…but there’s a lot more to do!

For a quick shot of daily actions you can take, I recommend signing up for Jessica Craven’s always entertaining Chop Wood, Carry Water sliding-scale newsletter. Her recent warning of a leak from inside the Social Security Administration of the possible demise of the SSA in the next 4-12 weeks is not for the faint of heart—and offers plenty of issues to raise when we contact our lawmakers and communicate with others. As Robert Hubbell put it, "Like the Civil Rights Era in the 20th Century and the anti-war movement of the 1960s, we are experiencing a moment in our history where the people drag their leaders kicking and screaming into the future." We must remember that these huge transformations, including the women's movement, were initiated by the people first, then the government followed.

I strongly feel that this is a time where we must do more than we think we can. Last year, I announced that I was going on sabbatical. Ha! As much as I would love to and feel it is appropriate at 77 years of age and a lifetime of service—I know that wise action amidst these turbulent times is the best nourishment. And, of course, there is still plenty to love about life—including connecting with others who are taking wise and bold actions.

What to do? How about dedicating 15 minutes of your day to help turn the world around by expressing your concerns to your Congress people? 1% of the U.S. annual budget went to aiding other countries. Would you consider doing the same for your annual budget, for future generations? Ten U.S. dollars has a value many times over in the developing world.

I was on a call with Indivisible (a pro-democracy organization founded in response to Trump’s 2016 election) and they said that in addition to needing money to hire more organizers to support all the new volunteers, “What we need to do is grow our tent.” This may mean talking to people you know who didn’t vote or even voted for Trump and are now feeling disaffected. And there will likely be more of the latter as people start to feel the effects of his policies.

Some people have written me and asked if it was alright to forward or post my newsletters. Yes—empowering one another with spirit in action is the point! My heart-daughter, Merileigh, shared my newsletter with her circle, and diplomatically prefaced it with “I'm not inclined to talk politics outside of close friends, but it kinda feels like we're beyond politics, at this point.” She said the letter was received (and further shared) with deep gratitude—a heartening and simple way to multiply our collective power.

If you missed any of my previous letters—or would like to refer a friend to them—I have posted them here. And if you would like to know the best actions I know to take at this time, you can find them here

Right now could be a holy time, working to protect life on Earth. We have an enormous opportunity for a thorough reformation of our world. The patriarchal poisons of white supremacy, capitalism, colonialism, racism, misogyny, and more that have been festering for centuries are now fully exposed. It is harder to deny them and more people are seeing the truth. I believe that our role is to first, look at the truth, even if it’s hard; and then, to speak the truth with others—both in and outside of our circle.

Now is a good time…

If you haven’t contacted your Congress person in a long time—now is a good time to begin. If you haven’t marched in a long time—now is a good time. If you have never written a letter to an editor—now is a good time. If you haven’t joined strikes or boycotts—now is a good time. Now is a good time to be bold. Now is a good time to be creative. Now is a good time to dive even deeper into community—our immediate community and the community of wholeness and of oneness with the rest of life. Now is a good time to fulfill the visions that our ancestors move through us and that our descendants pray for.  THANK YOU SO MUCH FROM THE EARTH AND ALL BEINGS, Hallie
